How Kooth is helping vulnerable children and young people in Devon, Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly

Summary

XenZone’s online counselling and emotional wellbeing service, Kooth, has been instrumental in supporting young victims of crime in the south west of UK. Commissioned by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, this ground-breaking project offers specialist support services for young victims of crime.

This report focuses on the role and impact of XenZone’s Kooth service in the project, summarising outcomes and incorporating feedback from the Kooth community.

Results in Brief

- In the first six months of the pilot, 130 children and young people identified on Kooth as being a victim of crime

- Most of those have accessed our ‘Staying Safe’ resources, where we offer advice and information on a range of topics, from cyberbullying, child sexual abuse and grooming, to gangs, trolling and online identity

- Most young people have presented with issues related to emotional, physical and sexual abuse
